RxBar Protein Bar Review – [ 10+ Flavors ]

RXBar Protein Bar, Chocolate Sea Salt FlavorThe RxBar 100% Paleo Bar has all-natural ingredients based on fruit and nuts. In addition, it contains egg whites, which give it the ability to provide 12 grams of protein per serving.

For people trying to avoid dairy, soy or whey protein, this is great news. However, this is not a vegan bar.

RXBars Have Natural Sweetness – No Added Sugar!

Since these are paleo protein bars, you don’t have to worry about artificial sweeteners. Instead, their sweetness comes from dates which, coincidentally, provide some fiber as well. Nature is so smart!

Coincidentally, this factor also makes them lower in sugar. Plus, you can attribute several of the carbs to fiber.

These Protein Bars are Grain-Free and Gluten-Free.

I also like RXBars because they don’t have flour, grains or gluten. Many protein bars on the market contain a significant amount of processed ingredients, but this one does not.

Essentially, you’ve got a bunch of whole foods conveniently packaged together into single servings that you can take with you on the go. And by the way, they’re Non-GMO as well.

Instead of packing trail mix on your next outdoor adventure, you can switch them out for RXBars.

The RXBar Will Keep You Full

Plus, with 9 grams of fat and 6 grams of fiber per serving, these keep you well-satiated. No wonder these are a top pick for hikers and outdoors enthusiasts.

Get an Extra Boost of Nutrition Too

Spoonful of Nutrient-Dense Cacao Powder, Great for Mood, Brain Power and EnergyThe RXBar protein bar also packs in superfood nutrition. For example, cacao is high in antioxidants, but it also helps improve focus and raise serotonin levels to boost mood. (Note: Great for a morning breakfast or an afternoon pick-me-up.)

In addition, coconut oil can help lower blood sugar levels while also aiding in digestion. Not only are you providing your body energy and nutrients, you are also helping it function better. Go figure!

RXBar Protein Bar Flavors:

Don’t worry if you don’t like chocolate, however. You can choose from lots of different flavors that provide high protein, fiber, satiating fat, superfood nutrients and all-natural nutrition.

In general, each flavor has similar base ingredients (fruit, nuts and egg white protein). The taste difference comes with the spices, flavorings and additional ingredients used.

Note: And yes, the Coffee Chocolate bar has real coffee and cacao – so get ready for a boost of energy!

Perfect Foods Bars – Are They Paleo?

Perfect Foods BarI heard some friends talking about Perfect Food Bars recently because they said their kids really liked them, so of course, I thought I’d check them out. At first glance, the ingredient list doesn’t look paleo. However, there were a lot of things I noticed about these bars, so I figured I’d let you know what I thought.

By the way, if you like fruit-and-nut type snacks, trail mix bars or appreciate superfood ingredients, I think you’ll dig these. Also, if you’re trying to get your kids to eat whole food healthy snacks, try these. They are voted #1 Best Tasting Whole Food Bar, although I haven’t found out by whom.

Stuff You Might Like…?

First of all, they have a lot of health benefits, especially for people with certain food sensitivities:

  • All Natural Ingredients (about 80% organic)
  • Gluten Free
  • GMO Free
  • No Preservatives
  • No Soy

Second, they have more protein than many other paleo bars. Therefore, if you are looking for a high-protein after-workout snack, this one may be worth checking out. Besides being good post workout, high-protein snacks are also more satiating.

Spinach in a green bowlThird, if you read the ingredient label carefully, you’ll notice halfway down that there are organic “whole food powders” added to boost the nutrition content (Bonus!!). There are organic ingredients like papaya, tomato, alfalfa, kelp, carrot, spinach, dulse and more…

No wonder each bar contains high amounts of vitamins and minerals, especially Vitamin E (45%), Magnesium (28%) and Copper (22%). By the way, I took these numbers off the Almond Butter flavor package and each flavor will vary. I’ve got all flavors listed below.

Fourth, the Perfect Foods Bar is substantial. It is approximately 300 calories per bar, with a good amount of protein, fat and carbohydrates. For some people, this could work as a mini meal replacement if they are traveling or away from home.

No matter what type of snack you use them for, they are a bargain as far as price, ringing in at only about $2.50 per bar. Not too bad for an organic, gluten-free mini-meal snack.

What You May Not Like About the Perfect Foods Bars…

First, yes these bars are packed with protein, but part of it is from organic rice protein. Although not really unhealthy (in my book), most experts don’t consider rice paleo, probably more so when it’s processed even more into a protein powder.

Second, dairy. It’s in there. In the form of nonfat milk powder. However, if you are paleo but don’t want to give up your cheese or whey protein shakes, this ingredient may not bother you. And it also may not bother you once you know that you get a healthy dose of calcium from each bar.

So, here is a list of the Perfect Foods Energy Bars:

Paleo Snacks on the Go

Mother with baby.Quick, Easy and Healthy Paleo Snacks

A majority of people who follow the paleo diet and lifestyle are active and busy. They need healthy snacks that they can take with them and eat on the go.

Not only do they want nutritious food, but they also want to eat things that provide energy and satisfy their hunger. That, on top of being easy to transport and prepare makes this a tall order – or does it?

Of course, that’s where paleo protein bars come in handy. They are full of energy-boosting nutrition, are satiating because they have lots of nuts and/or protein and require no refrigeration, cooking or meal prep.

But that doesn’t mean that you are stuck eating protein bars after every workout or whenever you need a quick meal. There are several other simple options that give you some nice variety and keep your meals from getting dull and boring.

Set of nuts on a white plate, isolatedMixed Nuts & Seeds

This may seem obvious, but instead of picking up a bag of almonds at the grocery checkout line, get a variety of unusual nuts and seeds to create your own unique mix. You may also want to add seasonings or spices to make your snack interesting.

Jerky

I like this snack because it can last a long time and does not need refrigeration. It’s nice to have in the car or briefcase for when you need it. Sometimes my appetite acts up when I’m not truly hungry – the intense flavor of meat jerky can solve that issue.

Pickles

I’m a fan of pickled foods, and I like to have these on hand at home for an occasional snack. For any salt fiends like me, this can prove to be a big winner. They can also travel well in a plastic container.

Dehydrated Fruits & Vegetables

If you have a food dehydrator, you can make your own snacks on a regular basis. You can also buy dehydrated or freeze dried snacks at the store or order them online.

Whether you need a sweet fix or crunchy fix, these snacks can work wonders – and they are super simple. Just make sure that the dried fruits you get don’t have added sugar or other stuff.

Almond Butter (or other nut butters)

The nice thing about nut butter is that you can eat them with a variety of different foods (ie celery, apples, carrots, etc..) This keeps your snacks from getting boring, and it can be a convenient way to get your sweet fix along with some healthy fat without going out and buying a cake.
