Bravo Bars – What Makes These Non-GMO Bars Different?

I recently had the opportunity to try Bravo Bars. They come in 3 different flavors: Chocolate Cran Almond, Cran Nut & Seeds and Cherry Coconut.

Bravo Bars in 3 Flavors, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free, Non-GMO

As the product box states, they are gluten free, soy free and non-GMO. In addition, the Cran Nut & Seeds flavor is also vegan.

Other Bravo Bar Features Worth Noting:

1. Protein Content

What the packaging doesn’t mention, however, is that these bars are higher in protein (9-13 grams). I think that this important to note, since most people don’t assume that fruit-and-nut snacks contain a lot of protein. The special ingredient here is grass-fed whey protein.

2. Paleo Friendly?

Furthermore, aside from the grass-fed vanilla whey protein, I consider these bars paleo-friendly. Actually, many people following a paleo lifestyle appreciate grass-fed products and therefore I think would like the extra grass-fed protein in these snacks.

How are Bravo Bars Different?

Bravo Bars taste like a homemade snack. The texture feels soft with some crunchiness and some chewiness but not too much. Pieces don’t get stuck in my teeth.

I really like the fact that they digest easily. For example, when I first tried them, I ate 3 bars in one sitting (oops!). However, they did not cause a lump in my stomach or any discomfort like some other bars can.

What I Didn’t Like About Bravo Bars

Bravo Bar Cran Nut and Seed, Soft-Baked Whole Food Bar Overall, I think Bravo Bars make a tasty snack or after-meal treat. That said, I was expecting (and looking forward to) more tanginess from the cranberry and cherry.

I didn’t find the tanginess I thought would be there. I also couldn’t taste the coconut in the Cherry Coconut bar. Therefore, I preferred the Chocolate and Cran Nuts & Seeds bars more.

If you don’t like tangy flavors, this may be good news for you. In any case, the homemade taste make Bravo Bars worth trying.

Simple Squares Review

What Do You Have Up Your Sleeve Simple Squares? The first thing I notice (probably along with everyone else) is that this snack bar is different. It has a square shape.

No big deal, except that it gets me thinking that this company is going outside the box and probably has developed a really cool product. What else do they have up their sleeve?

A Unique Yet Simple Healthy Snack Idea…

Just as the name implies, this product is simple. For instance, it has very few ingredients, all of which you can pronounce and understand.

In addition, they are organic, healthy and nutrient dense. Plus, they have no refined sugar, wheat, soy or dairy. If you want easy, organic snacks or gluten free bars, you’ve found them.

Although you can choose from a variety of different flavors, the ingredients behind Simple Squares basically boil down to nuts and honey. The type of nut will vary, plus the herbs change with each flavor. However, if you don’t like nuts and honey, then go somewhere else like here.

So then I figure out what they have up their sleeve – HERBS!

This is something totally different but really cool. If you get bored with other bar flavors or you enjoy the flavor of herbs, check these out:

  • Sage
  • Rosemary
  • Cinnamon-Clove
  • Coffee Bean
  • Coconut

Use Simple Squares to Refuel

To some people, these squares can be a convenient snack after a workout. They have a good breakdown of protein, carbs and fat to refuel and satiate at the same time.

Their individual packaging also make them easy to eat on-the-go, but you don’t have to worry about processed ingredients that can be difficult to digest high sugar content that spikes your insulin level.

Eat Simple Squares for Breakfast

These bars also have enough calories (about 250 calories) to be a energy-packed breakfast along with some fruit, eggs or Bullet Proof Coffee. If you are used to having toast, potatoes or cereal for breakfast, this can be a healthier alternative.

Switch These Gluten-Free Bars in as a Dessert

The unique flavors along with the honey also make them healthy after-dinner treats for people who want a dessert but want to avoid having a slice of cake or bowl of ice cream. Their protein and nuts will help fill you up, while the honey gives you that “cookie” taste you might be looking for after dinner.

The Downside?

They cost more than other bars. A box of 12 bars will run you about $30. You can get the price down 5% by subscribing to this product via Amazon, even if you only get 1 box every 6 months.

That said, it may end up saving you money if you end up eating out less because you have Simple Squares ready-to-eat in your car or in your bag.

Pecan Pie Paleo Bar …with 11g Protein?

There’s nothing like having a dessert you can eat for breakfast, guilt-free. This is one of them.

And it’s about time.

OK, but seriously, it’s the Abouttime All-Natural Fruit & Nuts Pecan Pie Protein Bar with 11 grams of protein. You get lots of good stuff without any of the bad stuff – and you don’t even need to cook it!

Ingredients:

  • Dates
  • Egg White Protein Powder
  • Almonds
  • Pecans
  • Chicory Root Fiber
  • Cinnamon

That’s it?

Yes. If you’ve had paleo bars before, you know that you don’t need lots of ingredients to make a delicious-tasting bar. In fact, you’ll usually end up with less sugar spikes, mood swings and digestive issues, among other things.

These are 2 oz bars with about 200 calories each with 5 grams of fiber (18% DV). Perfect for a light after-dinner snack, or if you’re like my dad, for breakfast. I’m not kidding.

By the way, are you wondering what chicory root fiber is? Well, I’ll tell you. It’s a good thing. It contains inulin, which is a carbohydrate fiber. It has a smooth, creamy texture and is commonly used as a replacement for fat – but it can also help lower cholesterol levels and prevent constipation. Not too shabby.
